True Bloodin kuudennen kauden viimeisessä jaksossa Eric kuolee. Eric on Ruotsissa lumen keskellä lukemassa kirjaa (täysin alasti), kun auringonvalo polttaa hänet kuoliaaksi.
Syy Ericin kuolemaan on näyttelijä Alexander Skarsgårdin halu lähteä pois sarjasta.
Kirjoissahan Eric ei tosiaankaan kuole.
